Northern Soul is a gem of a place! The café intercepts food from local supermarkets, that would have otherwise been binned, and turns them into delicious meals. This means that the menu is constantly changing. From sandwiches and pies to soups, curries and stir fries. They’re pretty good at providing vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and dairy free. I love their ethos of ‘feeding bellies and not bins’. There are set prices for teas, coffees, home-made spritzers and cakes. However for the meals they have a ‘Pay as you Feel’ during the week. Sundays is posh brunch time, where there is a set price, but for the quality of the locally sourced and organic ingredients it’s a good plate of items. I’ve visited quite often and it’s always fun to see what’s on the menu and the food has never disappointed. Book ahead if you want Sunday posh brunch. You realise pretty soon, that the place is more like a community hub than a café and the atmosphere in there is always warm and friendly. It’s such a wonderful place, and thoroughly deserves all the love and support it can get.

Brilliant cafe, lovely atmosphere, and such a great idea for reducing food waste while coming up with a creative and diverse menu everyday! Would definitely visit again :)
